EVENT: West Michigan Pet Expo, April 13th & 14th, 2013; Grand Rapids, MI.

What:  West Michigan Pet Expo (Largest in Michigan!)
When:  This weekend;  April 13th and 14th, 2013.
Time:  SUNDAY:  11am to 5pm
Where:  Delta Plex, Grand Rapids, MI.
Cost:  $8 per adult  (or $6 if you buy at Pet Supplies Plus store!), kids $5 (or $3 if purchased at store).

There are 2 HUGE sections in addition to the "arena" area where they do the presentations and demonstrations!  One section is devoted to adoptions, and another whole section is full of vendors and other great groups!!

What a fun day!  There were so many WONDERFUL animal groups and vendors here today I cannot even begin to name them but will give a shout-out to some of my faves:

THANK YOU to all the volunteers that worked the event this weekend and tried to get all of this great information out and get adoptions made!!!!  PLEASE OPT TO ADOPT!  :-)

BIG OL' SNAPPER TURTLE!!  If you don't know: YES, we have these in our beautiful state!

TORTOISE!  :-)  Even though the cute, little 2" ones look precious in the pet shop, tortoises are NOT pets. Most of the animals featured in this show were owner donated because they are NOT great pets and had to be given up.

This group made sure to point out that birds are NOT great pets: especially large birds.  These animals should never be kept solely in a cage and need lots of room and activities to stay happy!

A Binturong, aka: "Bear Cat".  Poor, sleepy, nocturnal animals was sound asleep through most of the day!

Lots of "hands on" animals to pet and learn from!!

RECIPE: Grilled Chicken and Mozzarella Ravioli with Toasted Rosemary and Parmesan Bread

This is another Costco meal! If you are lucky enough to have this store near you, this will be easy. You will need: Costco grilled chicken with mozzarella ravioli (has 2 containers in package, I only made one). Rosemary Parmesan bread Garlic (I prefer organic) Olive oil Butter I started off slicing the bread into 1/2" slices.  This bread has so much flavor, I decided not to add garlic to the bread, but you could sprinkle some seasoning on the butter so you can fry it. Start heating the water for the pasta. In a frying pan, prepare the coating for the pasta.  Mince up 1-3 cloves of garlic,  about 1 teaspoon.  I made half the package, which serves 4-5.  Melt 1/3 sick of butter in the pan on medium heat.  Add the minced garlic. WATCH that garlic. With a spatula (I use a silicone, high temp spatula), stir the garlic/butter/olive oil mix every 30 seconds or so. Stuart’s Landing: Boardwalk in Marshall, Michigan

Stuart's Landing is home to a beautiful walkway that we were able to visit today.  Located at 603 Homer Road, in Marshall, Michigan, it is a gorgeous place to fish, walk, relax, and even to exercise.  The below plaque hangs on the deck near the riverbank, and I whole-heartedly agree with the sentiment:  God must be an outdoorsman.  The way we decided to take, the boardwalk "starts" at Stuart's Landing, and travels westward along the Kalamazoo River.  Sounding more like a nature preserve than a public boardwalk, it is a very relaxing and beautiful place to be.  I do not know how long the path is, but it has to be well over a mile of stunningly fresh, green, and safe boardwalk.  We would, however, recommend a can of bug spray to really enjoy your walk.  :-)  The path is clear and safe for strollers and even wheelchairs.  It allows you to clear your brain, listen to the water, the birds, and the leaves rustling around you-- with no need to get your feet dirty (unless

RESTAURANT REVIEW: Gallagher's Eatery & Pub, in Kalamazoo, MI

          Today, August 22nd, is my Hubby's and my "Mona-Versary" (monthly anniversary).  We got the idea from a wonderful, favorite couple of ours.  Consequently, we always try to do something fun and special on this date-- even if it is just popcorn and a movie at home.            However, we thought that we would go to one of our favorite places-- Gallagher's Eatery & Pub (Irish/American), located at 4210 Stadium Dr., Kalamazoo, MI 49008. http://gallagherseatery.com/Locations/Kalamazoo.aspx   This restaurant, and the pub-side of it, are well known for their Irish fare of food, beers, beer club, and other such things.
