Stuart’s Landing: Boardwalk in Marshall, Michigan

Stuart's Landing is home to a beautiful walkway that we were able to visit today.  Located at 603 Homer Road, in Marshall, Michigan, it is a gorgeous place to fish, walk, relax, and even to exercise.  The below plaque hangs on the deck near the riverbank, and I whole-heartedly agree with the sentiment:  God must be an outdoorsman. 


The way we decided to take, the boardwalk "starts" at Stuart's Landing, and travels westward along the Kalamazoo River.  Sounding more like a nature preserve than a public boardwalk, it is a very relaxing and beautiful place to be. 


I do not know how long the path is, but it has to be well over a mile of stunningly fresh, green, and safe boardwalk.  We would, however, recommend a can of bug spray to really enjoy your walk.  :-)  The path is clear and safe for strollers and even wheelchairs.  It allows you to clear your brain, listen to the water, the birds, and the leaves rustling around you-- with no need to get your feet dirty (unless you want to).


In many spots in the river, waders and fishing rods should be required, just as these nice gentlemen were enjoying (in the below photo)!  It is delightful.  All sorts of wild flowers and trees line the pathway, including day lilies.

Along our path, keep your eyes peeled for wildlife, especially for small mouth bass and turtles!  In the below picture, we happened to spot a baby snapper-turtle sunning itself in the early evening sun.  Just before the sun went down, it had just enough time to get a few more rays.  (This baby snapper was only about 5-6 inches long!!  I have seen some that are well over 14 inches long and wide!)



The boardwalk in Marshall is a wonderful place to go to relax, walk, and escape the everyday stresses of life.  It reminds me of when I was younger, spending my summer nights at Camp Keewano, Camp Fire Girl Camp, in Hesperia, Michigan, listening to the sound of bull-frogs croaking, and the birds chirping overhead.  At the end of the boardwalk, it is said that an ice-cream shop is the place to stop before heading back towards the direction of the band shell at Stuart's Landing again.  If you want to relax, and enjoy Michigan for free, check out Stuart's Landing and the Boardwalk here in Marshall.  Remember, keep "Living Michigan!"

This is another Costco meal! If you are lucky enough to have this store near you, this will be easy. You will need: Costco grilled chicken with mozzarella ravioli (has 2 containers in package, I only made one). Rosemary Parmesan bread Garlic (I prefer organic) Olive oil Butter I started off slicing the bread into 1/2" slices.  This bread has so much flavor, I decided not to add garlic to the bread, but you could sprinkle some seasoning on the butter so you can fry it. Start heating the water for the pasta. In a frying pan, prepare the coating for the pasta.  Mince up 1-3 cloves of garlic,  about 1 teaspoon.  I made half the package, which serves 4-5.  Melt 1/3 sick of butter in the pan on medium heat.  Add the minced garlic. WATCH that garlic. With a spatula (I use a silicone, high temp spatula), stir the garlic/butter/olive oil mix every 30 seconds or so. RESTAURANT REVIEW: Gallagher's Eatery & Pub, in Kalamazoo, MI

          Today, August 22nd, is my Hubby's and my "Mona-Versary" (monthly anniversary).  We got the idea from a wonderful, favorite couple of ours.  Consequently, we always try to do something fun and special on this date-- even if it is just popcorn and a movie at home.            However, we thought that we would go to one of our favorite places-- Gallagher's Eatery & Pub (Irish/American), located at 4210 Stadium Dr., Kalamazoo, MI 49008. http://gallagherseatery.com/Locations/Kalamazoo.aspx   This restaurant, and the pub-side of it, are well known for their Irish fare of food, beers, beer club, and other such things.
