Stuart’s Landing: Boardwalk in Marshall, Michigan

Image
Stuart's Landing is home to a beautiful walkway that we were able to visit today.  Located at 603 Homer Road, in Marshall, Michigan, it is a gorgeous place to fish, walk, relax, and even to exercise.  The below plaque hangs on the deck near the riverbank, and I whole-heartedly agree with the sentiment:  God must be an outdoorsman.  The way we decided to take, the boardwalk "starts" at Stuart's Landing, and travels westward along the Kalamazoo River.  Sounding more like a nature preserve than a public boardwalk, it is a very relaxing and beautiful place to be.  I do not know how long the path is, but it has to be well over a mile of stunningly fresh, green, and safe boardwalk.  We would, however, recommend a can of bug spray to really enjoy your walk.  :-)  The path is clear and safe for strollers and even wheelchairs.  It allows you to clear your brain, listen to the water, the birds, and the leaves rustling around you-- with no need to get your feet dirty (unless

Station 66: (Bring your appetite for fruits, veggies, ice-cream, & donuts!)

Today, we ventured out to a new place for us: Station 66 , just south of Battle Creek, Michigan.  http://station66bc.com/   This was our first time discovering this beautiful little shop! The store offers good quality, locally grown produce (unfortunately, we just missed the strawberries).  We picked up some green beans and very robust blueberries.  The employees are incredibly friendly, quick, and professional.  The store is very clean and tidy. Station 66 offers delicious, Michigan-made ice-cream.  The husband and I tried the chocolate and moose tracks ice-cream.  I also sampled the raspberry cheesecake-- which was extraordinary.  They also offer fresh and amazing donuts.  We tried the apple donuts-- but they also had great looking cherry donuts, too. They offer shelves of decadent honeys, pepper-jelly, hot sauces, BBQ sauces (such as cherry-BBQ!), and other yummy delicacies. The following photo is one of my personal favorites:  (Nearly all) glass pop-bottles-- of course, a

Just Another Beautiful Michigan Sunset

Hello!  I just wanted to share some classic Michigan sunsets with you all.  Stunning as always, especially with the pink clouds, the moon, and the setting sun.  That is all.  Keep "Living Michigan"!

Celebrating the 4th of July: Our 235th Independence Day.

During the spring and summer of 1776, a group of men sat in a 90+ degree room, with all of the windows closed and shades drawn tight, committing treason against the British crown.   They could have been hung for such treacherous acts.   There was no air conditioning, nor calling for food delivery.   They could not send text messages or emails to one another.   It was an act of treason that I am very thankful for, because on the 4 th of July, 1776, our Declaration of Independence was signed, and read to the public for the first time. Being the daughter of two ardent patriots, I am a very patriotic person.   My dad, Thomas John Wiseman, served in the United States Army in Vietnam.   His father, Fred Wiseman, served in the Army in World War II.   My mother, Betty (Wilson) Wiseman, played percussion in her Charlotte, Michigan, High School Band, and raised me listening to John Philip Sousa as if it were “modern rock”.   Thanks to her, I also have a passion for music (and still play the fl
